Suicidal Genius was founded in the province of Cavite way back summer of 2005. Its founding members were classmates Troy John Alcala, on lead vocals, and Israel Tenorio on bass guitar, together with Tenorio's best friend Gilbert Patiņo, on lead guitar. Jethro Campos, Alcala's High school friend, joined the band to replace Tenorio on bass, and Rolcetone Ramos became their drummer, making them a five piece band. This line up worked together for less than a year.
At the end of 2005 Tenorio and Ramos quit and new members replaced them. They were Elizabeth Ong on guitar, and Nickson Vergara on drums. This line up worked together for less than 6 months but played one of the most important gigs of the band on December 8, 2005 (Lennon's 25th death anniversary) in Ratsky's (Tomas Morato, QC).
February of 2006 Gilbert was missing. Ronald Datan, Alcala's elementary friend joined the band as a session player but soon became a permanent member. Elizabeth Ong migrated to Hong Kong to pursue a career in Architecture. Nickson Vergara simply quit the band for being a full time drummer in another band. Michael Teves was recruited as their new drummer, recommended by a friend named Hassan Han of Yes FM. This line up worked together for almost 2 years and played almost 20 gigs and recorded a 2-song demo. At the end of 2007, the band changed its line up (for the nth time), Heritage Alcantara, Alcala's high school friend and band mate became their new guitarist and bassist but stayed only for four months. And Michael Teves and Jethro Campos were replaced by Pete Mercader, Datan's highschool buddy, and Pipo Estioko respectively.
